It wasn't the best of years for the Cowboys, but Tyler Booker has revealed what Schotty's message was as the offseason begins.
Brian Schottenheimer had an up-and-down first season as Dallas Cowboys head coach.
He oversaw one of the better offenses in football, led by Dak Prescott. But he also saw the defense flop into being one of the worst units in football.
As such, Matt Eberflus was relieved of his duties and now the search for his replacement can begin.
Given that this is Schottenheimer's first time in the big chair, and that his season ended with a 7-9-1 record and Dallas missing the playoffs, that isn't good.
One year doesn't define a coach. It is a stepping stone to what Brian hopes is a better Year 2.
And first-round rookie guard Tyler Booker revealed what Schottenheimer's message to the team was as they cleaned out their lockers and headed to the offseason.
“Just come back with a burning desire to go win next year,” a smiling Booker said.
And why was Booker, who had a good first season at right guard, smiling?
"Because I'm excited," He added. "I'm excited to get back to work. This is going to be my first offseason ever. Like being back at Alabama in a couple weeks we'll be starting fourth quarter. Thank God I don't have to do that anymore. I'm just ready to get back to work. I'm going have to find ways to kill time until it's time to get back to work."
That is the mindset that Schottenheimer will love.
Booker, fresh off a grueling first NFL season, is already excited to return to work in the next handful of months.
With players off doing their own thing away from the building, Tyler will learn on veterans as he juggles resting his body and also staying in shape for when OTAs roll around.
Schottenheimer wants his team to come back in 2026 with a burning desire to win.
And it's clear Booker is already counting down the days until he's back on that practice field ... "burning'' his way to a better season in Year 2.
