Cowboys' Ryan Flournoy A 'Star On The Rise' According To Coach cover image

Cowboys receiver Ryan Flournoy is the flavor of the week inside The Star.

We will look back on Week 14 of the 2025 season as the "Ryan Flournoy week" after the second-year Dallas Cowboys receiver announced himself to the NFL world in Detroit.

Granted, those of us who have been following Flo closely for the past two seasons know that his progress has been superb, and people are only now just catching on to what a player Ryan is turning into.

No, he isn't the finished product, but Flournoy stepping in for the injured CeeDee Lamb in Detroit, on the national stage, was good for the soul, with a touchdown and 115 yards from nine catches.

And perhaps the biggest compliment Flo has received, head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that when it was Flournoy's time to go in for Lamb, he was completely at ease with No. 19 going into the game.

“You never have to worry about Flo,” Schottenheimer said. “He's always ready. He's earned his stripes, per se. It wasn't just the Jets. He's done it multiple times. Me and my word, consistency, I think that's what's so cool is how well he's playing each and every week, even though he didn't put up 120 yards, he's played well the last couple weeks."

It is now back-to-back weeks of good offensive production for Flournoy, after his 34 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, and then the 115 against Detroit.

His Week 5 effort against the New York Jets saw Flo haul in six receptions for 114 yards, so he does have that sort of performance in his kit bag.

Already having a career-best season and doubling his snap count from his rookie season, right now, everything is coming up Flournoy.

"I think his star is on the rise," Schottenheimer added. "You talk about a guy that's big, strong, physical, good with the ball in his hands, loves contact. Guys like that sign me up for, I'll take him any day of the week.”

The hardest thing for young players is managing consistency week in, week out, and it isn't known how much Flournoy will see the field on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings, but one thing is for sure: there won't be any second-guessing putting No. 19 in the game.

He's already earned his stripes, and with that, comes earned opportunity.

And there's no denying that Ryan's earned his.
