Cowboys' Secret Superstar' Hiding In 'Plain Sight' In 2026 cover image

Many gravitated towards George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb on offense in 2025, but one other player made headlines as well.

The Dallas Cowboys' offense in 2025 was one of the best in football under first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer and coordinator Klayton Adams.

Dak Prescott earned his fourth Pro Bowl after throwing for 4,552 yards and 30 TDs. George Pickens (1,429 yards, 9 TDs) got his first Pro Bowl. CeeDee Lamb (1,077 yards) surpassed 1,000 yards for the fifth straight season.

Javonte Williams had a career-best year, rushing for 1,201 yards and 11 TDs to be a dynamic part of Schottenheimer's offense.

So there are a host of players you could point to as a reason why the Cowboys were a top-notch offense.

But what about those not in the spotlight all the time, yet still did their job?

Hunter Luepke, one of the Cowboys' favorite players, did his job routinely well as a running back, fullback, and tight end. So did Malik Davis when he got his chance.

But there is one player, who you could say, came from the clouds in training camp, and by Week 18, was a staple of the offense for Schottenheimer.

Ryan Flournoy.

Or as PFF's Zach Tantillo calls him, Dallas' secret superstar.

"Hiding in plain sight on a dynamic Cowboys offense, Flournoy posted an 80.3 PFF overall grade as the unit’s third-highest-graded player," Tantillo wrote. "He brought in 40 of his 42 catchable targets and led Dallas in touchdown receptions from Weeks 9 through 18.

"Despite limited snaps, Flournoy ranked fourth on the Cowboys’ offense in PFF Wins Above Replacement."

"Flo" and his 2025 season could be remembered as the year he figured it out.

In just his second season, Flournoy, through hard work both on and off the field, developed into a trusted weapon for Dak.

So much so that Prescott, when in need of a third-down conversion, would often look No. 19's way. Not Lamb. Not Pickens. Flournoy's. Of his 40 receptions, 29 went for first downs.

He's a chain mover.

Ryan would finish the year fourth in yards (475), and receptions (40), and third in touchdowns (four). He has taken Jalen Tolbert's job. So much so that heading into the offseason, the Cowboys aren't likely to even offer Jalen a contract.

It's Flournoy's position now.

A secret superstar? Let's tap the brakes on that.

But a 2026 breakout candidate in his second year under Schottenheimer? Yeah, sign me up.
