Revel Jr.'s rookie season was up and down, but now that he is fully healthy, he's flying around the field in Oxnard.
Dallas Cowboys corner Shavon Revel Jr. is finally feeling like himself, more than a year removed from his knee injury.
We did see him for the Cowboys last season, but with no training camp and only an in-season ramp-up, Revel Jr. was inconsistent, to say the least, after being thrown into the deep end of Matt Eberflus' defense.
But now that he is fully healthy and with no brace on his knee, it appears the corner is ready to remind everyone of the talent he possesses.
Going against CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens every day is some way to get your feet underneath you, but as Dallas had its first padded practice, Revel Jr. was the star of the show.
A handful of PBU's after Lamb and Pickens got one over him in early practices, Revel Jr. bounced back with a great day in Oxnard.
But he still isn't getting ahead of himself at this early stage of the offseason, as he gets to hone his craft against two of the best receivers in football.
"Mentally, you just got to take it one at a time," Revel Jr. said. "At the end of the day, we all trying to achieve a goal. I'm trying to be the best player that I can be every day. And to have top five receivers on the team, that also helps me along this journey. So, it's a blessing, definitely."
Another blessing for Shavon is that he's fully healthy, and he has confidence in his knee as well. There's no mental handbrake.
Plus, there's no fidgeting with his knee brace, which we saw a lot of last season.
He can be all about football with a clear mind, and the early evidence is that this is a completely different corner to the one we saw last year.
Still, it's slow and steady in Oxnard.
"Take it day by day," Revel said when asked his thoughts on being fully healthy in camp. "One percent every day, just get better in my skills and the areas that I need to fix in the rooms that I need to. Watch film, fix what I need to fix."
The defense took the points in the first padded practice, with Revel Jr. making some serious noise, and while Caleb Downs, Malachi Lawrence, and Jaishawn Barham have all been getting the plaudits, don't forget about Revel Jr.
He might just be the ace in Christian Parker's deck.
