The former undrafted free agent secures his future in Dallas after outworking high-round picks to become a vital blocker and Dak Prescott’s trusted target through 2029.

Brevyn Spann-Ford has gone from undrafted free agent to a long-term piece of the Dallas Cowboys' plans.

Dallas agreed to a three-year contract extension with the tight end Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Financial terms of the extension were not immediately reported.

For the Cowboys, the deal rewards a player who has steadily carved out a role since arriving in 2024.

Spann-Ford signed with Dallas after going undrafted out of Minnesota and earned a spot on the Cowboys' initial 53-man roster as a rookie. He appeared in all 17 games that season, catching nine passes for 88 yards while contributing as a blocker and on special teams.

His role grew in Year 2. Spann-Ford again appeared in all 17 games in 2025, making five starts and finishing with nine receptions for 90 yards and his first career touchdown.

He also logged 300 offensive snaps and another 243 on special teams.

Through two seasons, Spann-Ford has 18 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown across 34 games.

His rise continued this summer. Dallas listed Spann-Ford as its No. 2 tight end behind Jake Ferguson and ahead of former second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker — and his work during training camp earned some strong praise from Dak Prescott.

“He’s a guy that’s just done everything right since he’s been here,” Prescott said during an August appearance on Up & Adams. “Anytime I had the ball this offseason [and] was in Dallas, Brev was there. … He’s playing on fire, and he’s doing a hell of a job.”

Spann-Ford entered 2026 in the final season of the three-year contract he signed after going undrafted.

He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent following the season, giving Dallas a decision to make on his future.

The Cowboys made it early.

Spann-Ford arrived in Dallas without hearing his name called in the draft. Two years later, he's earned a second contract — and a place in the Cowboys' plans beyond 2026.
