"America's Team" and the superstar defensive lineman who calls Dallas home are, once again, linked in offseason trade talks.

It's played out. And somehow, year after year, just as the summer heat rolls in, it still becomes a conversation topic.
This year isn't anything different, despite Garrett, the Arlington native and former Texas A&M Aggie, having signed a massive contract a year ago before winning Defensive Player of the Year honors last year with the Cleveland Browns.
Where is the pot now being stirred?
First, SI's Albert Breer unearthed conversations about the Browns' potential to trade the All-Pro defensive lineman, who broke the NFL's sack record in 2025 with 23 QB takedowns.
The insider names two NFC East teams as "suitors" for the generational superstar.
"I think the [Philadelphia] Eagles are somebody you always pay attention to," Breer reports about Garrett's trade market. "It’s a little hard to see them pulling it off just because of their salary cap situation. Dallas is one that, to me - that’s where he’s from. So like, there would be an appeal there, and they obviously traded away Micah Parsons a year ago, so they are a team that would look at something like that. ...''
Obviously, every team would welcome the chance to add Myles Garrett to their defense.
But beyond that, where are the new facts that advance the ball on this Garrett-to-Dallas "story''?
An update comes from Mary Kay Cabot, the respected Browns beat writer who says, "It now seems as though there might be some fire where the smoke is coming from in regards to the possibility of Garrett being moved."
And then Cabot mentions Dallas as a "rumored'' team to watch.
Aggregations of Cabot's report are morphing the "news'' into Dallas "showing trade interest here'' and that it might take "three first-round picks'' to complete a deal.
But suddenly, the idea that Garrett gets traded out of Cleveland is no longer speculative. He's moving to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a first-round pick, Pro Bowler Jared Verse and "additional compensation.''
Cowboys Nation is hoping that "additional compensation'' is a lot, because otherwise, yes, Dallas should've been in on this.
Last March, he signed a then-record-setting $160 million deal to make him one of the NFL's highest-paid defenders for the next four years. Since then, the Browns have made financial shuffles that would, in theory, make their debt and escapability less burdensome.
In short, now we've seen a deadline marker come and go ... as they'd save a lot of money by making a post-June 1 move with Garrett. But we already knew that.
Garrett has also reportedly not yet attended the team's OTAs, with rumors of dissatisfaction relating back to Cleveland losing defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who left the organization after it hired new head coach Todd Monken.
One Browns media report insists the iconcio Garrett is "ghosting'' the team.
Given the fact that Jerry Jones made a serious offseason bid on the Raiders' Maxx Crosby, we could see reason for hope there.
So we're talking about giving up assets and then paying the player $40 million per year.
What we're left with, for now, is the rumor mill that cranked out the word "Cowboys'' by rote - and with all due respect, that's part of what is happening here. ... with the Rams being the ones who are walking the walk.
