The Pro Bowl cornerback addresses his unusual injury, revealing a surprising "handyman" mishap that kept him sidelined and sparked intense speculation.

ARLINGTON - Dallas Cowboys faded Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs finally found he was back into the lineup on Sunday in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

    Was he exposed?

    Maybe.

Did he also expose the truth about his "mystery'' injury?

    Kinda.

Diggs, after having spent the previous eight games on injured reserve due to a concussion sustained in an "at-home accident,'' got the start here ... in what might be his final run in a Cowboys uniform in part due to the $12 million cap savings available to Dallas in the spring should the team move on from him.

"After the season, I guess we'll figure it out," Diggs said.

    As for this outing?

Diggs was activated off IR on Saturday and played 52 snaps. He was credited for six tackles -  a notable number for him. He was also the cornerback on a play that saw Ladd McConkey catch a 25-yard-TD pass, though Diggs subtly suggested the failure wasn't his fault.

"Cover 2, Cover 2, Cover 2," he said, meaning that he expected safety help on the play. "It's just a coverage, it's a lot of room I guess ... There's ways to beat us, ways to get past us."

Well, given that this might just be the NFL's worst defense?

Yeah, there are definitely "ways to get past'' Dallas.

Now, what about that "at-home accident''?

Amid an assortment of nasty rumors - and months of Diggs' silence - he explained on Sunday that he got bonked on the head while trying to mount a TV pole on his ceiling.

“I was trying to be a handyman,'' Diggs said with a smile.

That explains it ... though it doesn't explain why he (and the Cowboys) have kept this truth shrouded in secrecy.

But now the concussion is gone. The knees seem fine. How did the experience hit him?

"It was a blessing, it felt amazing," Diggs said. "Super-excited, super-happy to go out there and get to compete with my brothers."

Owner Jerry Jones also offered a positive review.

"I thought he played with a lot of, really, awareness. I thought he played well," Jones said. "He played against some good competition. ... I was glad to see him back out there."

Diggs reiterated his desire to stay in Dallas, admitting that the thought this might be his final home game here was "tough.''

But, he added, "I'm proud that I'm healthy. Proud I played all the plays, proud I went out there and competed, gave it everything, and I'm glad I was just out there with the guys."
