The Cowboys got a much-needed win, but if you thought Dak Prescott was happy with where the team is, well, you'd be wrong.
The Dallas Cowboys badly needed a win, and they got it with a 38-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night.
The offense put up over 400 yards. Javonte Williams had a career night, rushing for 155 yards and a touchdown, while the defense did have bad moments but also managed a couple of sacks and a DeMarvion Overshown interception.
All in all, this is a win that was needed, but there isn't a need to really go too overboard celebrating it.
Dallas still sits at 3-4, with some favorable games on the schedule, there is a chance the Cowboys could go on a run if they are good enough.
And speaking post-game, Dak Prescott made it known that while the win was good, he's not about to start pretending that all is right with the world.
“Obviously, I've been in the league 11 years now, and understanding where this team is, what we need to do, the importance, and when you expect to do something, yeah, you should celebrate it," Prescott said.
“Don't get me wrong. The work that we put in, and it's not like I didn’t celebrate with my guys in the locker room. I'm happy about it, but I don't know if [people] want me to be happier; but a two or three win team, when we were that, I don't really know what you want from us.”
So, the Cowboys are happy with the win, but Dak knows this team isn't out of the woods yet.
With their kryptonite, the Arizona Cardinals are up next at AT&T Stadium, followed by the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and the Tennessee Titans. There are some winnable games for Dallas if it is good enough.
So, the win was exactly what was needed, and the Cowboys, for the most part, looked good doing it, and in truth, the scoreline probably flatters them a touch.
Still, it was a must-win game, and Dallas did just that. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Now, attention will quickly turn to the Cardinals because, let's face it, Dallas isn't in a position to really soak in the glory of a win, and Dak alluded to that.
A win is a win, but Prescott knows there's still plenty of work for this team to do.
