For once, there is no contract drama hanging over the franchise, which is a nice change of pace for Dak.
The Dallas Cowboys have moved differently this offseason, particularly with how they handled the contracts of star players.
Brandon Aubrey, Javonte Williams and George Pickens all had their futures sorted before mandatory minicamp began, which, for once, meant there were no contract dramas hanging over the franchise.
Oh, how the times have changed.
Over the past handful of years, we've had Dak Prescott's contract, CeeDee Lamb's, Micah Parsons' holdout, and Pickens' situation had the potential to follow suit, but he signed his tag and showed up to mandatory minicamp.
No contract drama here, folks.
And Dak had a rather interesting response when asked about having no contract dramas hanging over the team's head this offseason and if it is a good thing.
"I mean, for sure, obviously we're used to it," Dak said with a smirk. "So, it wouldn't be absurd to have it, but it is good that we won't have that this year. George is going to be there, wish he would get the long-term contract.
"But I'm sure that's all being talked about and discussed closed doors and not necessarily has to happen immediately. So, hopefully we can get him on something long term whenever that's right."
With all the contract drama taken care of, for the first time in recent memory, there are no headlines to be made, no public back-and-forth, and finally, football can be the main thing this offseason.
It is a breath of fresh air that the franchise and its players don't have to consistently answer questions about contracts, holdouts, and everything in between.
It can all be about football.
But what does Dak think of finally having a "quiet" offseason?
“It's never quiet, I just think that the focus is in the right place," he added. "I mean, it's the Cowboys, right? Quiet, I don't know if that's ever the right word, but the focus is in the right place. I think everybody's channeled for the same goal.
"Just the guys that we've brought in, the vets, George obviously showing up, excited to play on the tag, yeah, we can all focus on winning and what we need to be focused on."
For years, we have campaigned for there to be a drama-free offseason, and for football to be the main thing, not making headlines, not bringing unnecessary attention to the franchise, just focus on the one thing you're there to do.
And for once, it feels like the Cowboys have listened.
No, it might not be totally quiet this offseason for Dallas, but there's no drama, which I think is a rather fair trade-off.
And Dak thinks so too.
