The Cowboys have two first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, and Dak has high expectations.

The NFL Draft is fast approaching, and the Dallas Cowboys loom as a team to watch, holding two first-round picks.

How the franchise will approach having picks No. 12 and No. 20 is going to be an interesting thing to watch play out. Some mock drafts have the Cowboys trading up, others have the franchise staying at No. 12, but there is one common thread.

Dallas has to draft Day 1 starters.

Sonny Styles and Caleb Downs loom as the two ideal options for the Cowboys, and either one would drastically improve Christian Parker's defense.

Of course, Styles would require a trade-up, something Dallas has the ammunition to do, but whether the franchise does or not remains to be seen.

But what is known is Dak Prescott's thoughts on the offseason so far and his expectations for the NFL Draft.

Hint, he's got big expectations.

“I’m excited with everything we’ve done up to this point,” Prescott said Friday at the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala in Dallas. “I expect two great draft picks, maybe something exciting, I don’t know any more than anybody else. If there’s movement (a trade), that’ll be cool, too.

"I know we’ll add some great players and trust the front office and all that they’re doing."

So Prescott, like most of Cowboys Nation, has high expectations given the franchise has two first-round selections. As it stands, the defense needs all the help it can get.

Of course, the draft is a good place to turbo-charge the turnaround, but there is also free agency post-draft where the Cowboys might look to add some value at key positions as well.

Who the Cowboys could target in the first-round has seen varying responses, with Styles, Downs, Arvell Reese, Rueben Bain Jr., Mansoor Delane, Jermod McCoy (still), and David Bailey all being linked with coach Brian Schottenheimer's team.

As it stands, the Cowboys picks ...

Round 1

Pick No. 12

Pick No. 20 (via Green Bay Packers)

Round 3

Pick No. 28 (92 overall, via San Francisco 49ers)

Round 4

Pick No. 12 (112 overall)

Round 5

Pick No. 12 (152 overall)

Pick No. 37 (177 overall, compensatory)

Pick No. 40 (180 overall, compensatory)

Round 7

Pick No. 2 (218 overall, via Tennessee Titans)

Will Dallas trade up or stay put when the NFL Draft's three-day process starts on Thursday? That is another thread to pull here, because there is a chance the Cowboys end the first round with one star player instead of two good ones, depending on how far they trade up.

So there is a lot to consider over the next week, but one thing is clear, at least for Dak.

He's expecting great things from the front office.
