The hope and optimism around a potential Super Bowl chance have filled our ears, but rightly or wrongly, Dak Prescott isn't shying away from it.
There's no doubt the Dallas Cowboys have moved very differently than in previous years, and that goes for a lot of the front office.
From how the coaching search was conducted, which led Dallas to Christian Parker, to the free agency "splashes" of Jalen Thompson and Rashan Gary, and how the Cowboys filled out the rest of the roster, it's been a breath of fresh air.
But perhaps what is even better is that Dallas doesn't appear content to sit on its hands, citing Jerry Jones' comments that the Cowboys didn't walk away from the Maxx Crosby deal, and that he had spoken with a team owner the day before Dallas' state of the union press conference to open camp.
So it is clear that Jerry has far greater urgency to get this team to a level where it can compete for a Super Bowl. After all, he did say he isn't going to wait a year or two to make a move to push this team over the top. Nor is he now afraid to part ways with premium capital ("f them picks," Los Angeles Rams-style) to get a quality player through the door.
And it is something that hasn't gone unnoticed by Dak Prescott.
"I'm blessed to obviously be here 10 years, but to watch what's happened over the last couple years and to see his mind and his urgency and him still wanting to do whatever he can to make this team better, that's why you play and practice and make sure you give this team everything you can is because when the owner's doing it and it's going from the top to the bottom," Prescott said.
"Why not? Life's about being urgent. A lot of us want to wait and want to say, 'Oh, we'll do it later,' but what are we really promised? Whether it's football or whether it's life. And so why not now?"
Why not now.
Those are the three words that could define the Cowboys' 2026 season.
Yes, many are talking Super Bowl, as they do every year, but this is the first time in recent memory that, with the way Jerry and the front office are moving, it feels like the franchise is doing its best to give itself a shot.
No more "we like our guys"; now it is a complete 360 from that.
Jerry put blood in the water with his Crosby comments, and then he and Stephen Jones were spotted by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after practice for a five-to-10-minute conversation with Dr. Dan Cooper, who, ironically, was the one who gave them the information on Crosby's knee issue.
Breadcrumbs folks. They are everywhere.
Still, we go back to Dak's comments on how the franchise has moved this offseason.
