In a deeply meaningful moment ahead of Super Bowl LX, Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb made one longtime fan’s dream come true. This past weekend, Lamb gifted Super Bowl game tickets to Technical Sergeant Chris Ferrell, a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran and ardent Cowboys supporter from Clovis, New Mexico.
The surprise unfolded during a special meet-and-greet at USAA’s Salute to Service Lounge on February 7, where Ferrell presented Lamb with his Purple Heart, a testament to his service and sacrifice.
Ferrell’s military career spanned 14 years, from 2003 to 2017, during which he served with distinction as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician—disarming and destroying roadside bombs and other explosive hazards in combat zones. His bravery earned him numerous accolades, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Force Commendation with Valor, the Department of Defense Civilian of the Year, and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from then-President Obama.

After medically retiring due to combat injuries, Ferrell continued to serve his community, working as a police officer in Clovis and later facilitating live training for U.S. and coalition special operations teams.
A lifelong Cowboys fan, Ferrell was accompanied by his wife, Lauren, who is currently in nursing school. Before kickoff, they were scheduled to meet Lamb and several NFL legends at the USAA Salute to Service Lounge, where the spirit of service and gratitude converged.
Lamb, who has emerged as one of the NFL’s premier receivers and a consistent Pro Bowl talent, expressed how meaningful it was to give back to someone who has given so much.
"It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to send Technical Sgt. Chris Ferrell and his wife Lauren to their first Super Bowl," Lamb said. "I’m honored to be able to give back to a deserving veteran and life-long Cowboys fans like Chris and Lauren who have given so much to others, and I can’t wait to show my appreciation in-person in San Francisco."
Partnering with USAA, the Official Salute to Service Partner, and the Air & Space Forces Association, Lamb’s gesture didn’t just offer tickets—it bridged two American passions: military service and football fandom. In honoring Ferrell, Lamb honored a generation of service members whose dedication extends far beyond the gridiron.
