The Dallas Cowboys are in need of pass-rushing help ever since the trade of Micah Parsons last offseason (cue shocked face).
With Christian Parker's defense in desperate need of someone who can consistently get after the quarterback, the big name we had been hearing was Maxx Crosby.
But after reports that the Las Vegas Raiders want two first-round picks in any trade, it's been reported that the Cowboys don't intend to do so.
As such, their attention has reportedly turned elsewhere.
Like to pending free agent Trey Hendrickson.
Trey to the Cowboys is nothing new, with the franchise being linked with the aging pass-rusher for years.
But now might be the time the Cowboys can get him.
Yes, he'll be older, and yes, he could command a $25 million APY salary, but signing him would require zero draft capital, allowing the Cowboys to continue building the defense through the draft.
And for ESPN's Peter Schrager, who was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show, Trey to Dallas is a good bet.
"He is a pure free agent, and I think Dallas does make a lot of sense," Schrager said. "I know he's on the other side of 30, that's not necessarily what everyone wants to hear, but they have the 12th and 20th pick where they can get younger, and they're looking to add assets."
Yes, we can hear the concerns about Trey's age, and that is valid. There are also those who are cautious about a move due to his injury in 2025, which saw him play just seven games.
But keep in mind, prior to that, Hendrickson played all 17 games in the previous two years, and played at least 14 in the previous three years, going back to 2020.
The biggest carrot for Dallas is that Hendrickson is a known commodity, and as one football person who spoke with our own Mike Fisher stated, "he just beats his man."
While not the athletic beast Crosby is, Hendrickson isn't a slouch. Remember, he registered 17.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024.
There are pros and cons to a move for Trey, but the Cowboys could fill a need while also preserving their draft stock.
Would a move for Hendrickson be the right move for Dallas?
