Brian Schottenheimer detailed the conversation that took place when Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni wanted to interview Klayton Adams for his offensive coordinator role.

The NFL offseason is a time of a lot of moving and shaking, both personnel-wise and coaching-wise, and the Dallas Cowboys saw that on the defensive side of the ball.

The organization submitted interview requests to several people from other franchises, which led them to Christian Parker as their new coordinator.

But given how prolific the offense was under Brian Schottenheimer and Klayton Adams, the Cowboys' offensive staff was also getting interest.

We know that the Philadelphia Eagles had an eye on Adams, who helped mastermind one of the best offenses in football. Not to mention helping transform Dallas' run game from horrific in 2024 to a top-10 unit in 2025.

As expected, the Cowboys swiftly shut down the idea of Adams interviewing for the Eagles' offensive coordinator job, denying the request.

But now, we know a little bit more about that conversation between Schottenheimer and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

"Klayton's the best, I love Klayton," Schottenheimer said with a big smile. "It was funny, there's different ways you can do it. You can send in slips. Nick [Sirianni], of course, called me and said, "Hey, I got a question to ask you. I want to send a letter in for Klayton."

"And I said, "Don't bother, buddy. I'm going to have to deny you on that one." He said, "I'm not calling the plays." I said, "I'm going to have to deny you."

"Klayton's a stud, his energy is amazing. Nick wasn't wrong for trying."

So it was a quick and brief call as the Cowboys and Schottenheimer recognize how crucial Adams is to how the offense rolled in 2025.

Led by Javonte Williams' 1,201 yards and 11 TDs, the Cowboys averaged a crisp 125.6 rushing yards per game in 2025  (ranked 8th). Compare that to 2024 (100.3, ranked 27th).

In fact, it was Dallas' best return on the ground since 2022 (131.7).

Then we have the passing attack with Dak Prescott (4,552 yards, 30 TDs), CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, both of whom surpassed 1,000 receiving yards, and you get an idea of how much Adams helped the Cowboys.

And the last thing Dallas would have wanted is for Klayton to take his talents to their bitter rivals.

Scottenheimer starved off interest this time, but if Dallas keeps producing top offenses, it's only a matter of time before Adams departs.

Thankfully, though, it's not that time yet.
