Pickens was at the facility and did some individual work, but it was his work off the field that was most notable.
Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens showed up at The Star as mandatory minicamp began and put to bed all of the lingering questions many had on the outlook for the offseason.
Pickens was a slow burn as far as on-field work, seen doing individual workouts, and on Tuesday Day 1 even did a little dance after catching a pass.
Yeah, he's happy to be back.
But while it was good to see Pickens in attendance and on the field doing work, albeit in a limited capacity, it was his work at the podium that stood out to me.
He hit all the right notes as the questions over his future were no doubt going to be front and center.
So, why did Pickens show up?
"Just really the team, when I just think about the team, the run we could have had, certain stuff just being in place and could make something bigger," Pickens said. "I think about that and take that into a part of a decision to make."
It is "team first'' for George. Excellent.
But just because he's at minicamp, that doesn't completely answer all the questions about what he'll do over the coming days.
Some thought he might be a "hold in" and be at practice without participating in drills as a sort of contract protest.
Well, George knocked that notion on the head real quick.
"No, definitely here now," Pickens said. "The group of guys that's with the Cowboys kind of prevents you if you know guys, you're going to guys house, you're talking like I talk to Dak, I'm still throwing with Dak, is definitely going to make you not want to hold out."
So there is a team vibe to why George decided to show up for work, and he even hinted that his agent, David Mulugheta, is like his "boss," and that he does whatever Pickens tells him to do.
With George spending three days at The Star and saying all the right things at the podium ... and avoiding any injury during his three-day ramp-up?
There appears to be no drama on the horizon.
Except for when training camp rolls around, as the threat of a holdout still likely looms, right? Well, once again, Pickens had the ideal answer.
"No, I'm going to be here. I'm going to be here at training camp," he said.
So, Pickens had himself a superb week at The Star.
He got on the field and then said all the right things regarding his future and why he decided to show up for work.
