There are several players Dallas is rotating through, but has the franchise already found it's defensive leader?
One big question mark for the Dallas Cowboys defense is who will wear the green dot and be the defensive quarterback for Christian Parker.
We know that the franchise is trying a couple of players in that position, but there was also a thought that rookie Caleb Downs could be that player for Parker.
But as OTAs have gotten underway, it is becoming clear the group is narrowing, with DeMarvion Overshown now seen as the clubhouse leader.
And that's not a report. D-Mo said so himself.
When asked about why he chose to come to OTAs after his wedding, Overshown made it clear there is plenty of time for the honeymoon when the Cowboys take a break before training camp.
And in the process, revealed that he is "the" guy to be the mike linebacker for Parker.
"Right now, the main thing is the main thing, and that's to get these installs in so when we take this break before training camp, I come back as the mike linebacker that everybody can look at and say, "This is our guy, this is the guy that's going to lead our defense to the next level," Overshown said.
Overshown stated that he has been the "Mike'' before, but once he entered the NFL, he was never asked to do it.
Now, though, it appears Parker has Overshown's name circled as the one he wants to be leading his unit.
Tasked with having direct communication with Parker on gamedays, the mike is responsible for getting the play-call out to his teammates and helping make sure everyone is lined up where they are supposed to be.
As we know, communication was poor last season for Dallas, and "Agent Zero'' is tasked with changing it.
Overshown will be right in the thick of the action, but when it comes to his responsibilities, D-Mo is ready to prove he can be the leader Dallas needs him to be.
“Just the fact that I'm in control of everything," he added. "People going to look for me to set the front or make the checks when the offense making the check, I got to be CP on the field.
"That's what we talk about a lot is I got to be an extension of him on the field. So, that's a role that you do it well, you play here for a long time. So, we all know what year this is for me. It's contract year, and you give me the green dot. So, I got an opportunity to prove myself."
So, Overshown appears ready for the challenge, and while there are others who think the Cowboys need to go and get some outside help, like Bobby Wagner as an insurance policy, Agent 0 is banking on being the quarterback of the defense.
And in a contract year, it is crucial he proves he is up to the task, because Dallas' season, as heavy-handed as it sounds, could be dependent on him making the most of this opportunity.
