The Cowboys hold two first-round picks, and in this scenario, the franchise trades one to move up the draft order.

We are getting closer and closer to the NFL Draft, and what the Dallas Cowboys' plan is will be fascinating to watch unfold.

Holding the 12th overall pick and the 20th overall pick, Will McClay and his team can go in a number of directions.

Given the defensive needs, the Cowboys are likely to give Christian Parker two Day 1 starters to overhaul his unit.

We have seen several mock drafts fly off the shelves over the past couple of weeks, and some have Dallas staying at No. 12 and taking LSU corner Mansoor Delane, and at No. 20, linebacker CJ Allen.

Both would be good picks for the Cowboys.

But there has also been chatter that if certain players are on the board as Dallas' turn approaches at No. 12, the team could look to trade up.

And for CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, he has Dallas sending a host of picks to the Cleveland Browns to move up to No. 6 to take Texas Tech defensive stud David Bailey.

"Dallas sends No. 12 overall and second-round picks each of the next two years to the Browns in exchange for No. 6 overall and a 2027 fourth-round pick," Edwards wrote.

"The Cowboys are operating like a team that is feeling a bit of pressure to make noise in the postseason. There are not many impactful prospects in this draft class, so the Cowboys move for one of them."

So Dallas gives up No. 12 and a second-round pick in 2027 and 2028 to move up.

One issue: That seems pricey.

Another issue: We can tell you that the Dallas scouting department strongly disagrees with the idea that "there are not many impactful prospects in this draft class.''

But back to Bailey.

Seen as arguably defensive players in the draft, adding his quarterback-hunting skills to Parker's defense would be sublime.

As explosive as they get, Bailey made a living in the offensive backfield last season for the Red Raiders.

He totaled 14.5 sacks, 19.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles as he was named an All-American. Oh, and he did all of that in just 14 games.

So the production is there, and the Cowboys desperately need some of that.

It does feel like a lot to move up to No. 6, but if Bailey is still on the board, he is everything the Cowboys need.
