Jadeveon Clowney Makes 2026 Cowboys Future Wish Perfectly Clear cover image

Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney knows what he wants to do in 2026.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney stated before the Week 17 game against the Washington Commanders that he was motivated to perform at a high level despite having what some think is "nothing to play for.''

"They’re paying me, that’s enough motivation for me," Clowney said.

And against Washington, he was one motivated individual.

Jadeveon posted 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss, leading the Cowboys in all three categories. ...

Not to mention his chase down of Deebo Samuel as the 33-year-old showed he still had some serious wheels rumbling downfield.

Clowney's 2025 stats are nothing to sneeze at, considering he came off the couch to sign his one-year, $3.5 million deal.

In 12 games, Clowney has posted 5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.

For most, having Jadeveon return in 2026 is a no-brainer.

But does he want to remain a Cowboy?

“Oh yeah, if they’re willing to bring me back, but, yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m definitely gonna play,” Clowney said. “I got a lot left in the tank. I ain’t gonna go sit on my couch. I’m gonna stay ready. Maybe sign a little bit earlier, and I’m trying to go to camp next year so I can get the rust off me and get going. I’m looking forward to it.”

So, there we have it.

The fire still burns bright, and perhaps the most significant nod to the 2026 season is that Clowney, as he's about to turn 33, wants to get a full offseason in.

Sometimes we see veterans not want to participate in training camp, and sign closer to the season. Not Jadeveon -- he wants a full offseason.

And given what we have seen from him in spurts in 2025 without a full offseason, having him get a full training camp under his belt will be beneficial. So too will be the wisdom that the veteran can impart to the younger players in the locker room.

Clowney wants a return in 2026.

As it happens, team leaders like Dak Prescott support the idea.

Let's see if the Cowboys front office feels the same. ... and how much the Joneses are willing to spend to make it happen.
