No one knows how the NFL Draft will play out, and in this latest mock draft, the Cowboys make a surprising move.
For most, the Dallas Cowboys' first-round draft approach has to be on defense.
Yes, going BPA (best player available) is how the front office should approach it, but as our own Mike Fisher stated, if the "tags touch," the Cowboys should go defense.
Such is the need to revamp the unit under Christian Parker; Dallas' picks at No. 12 and No. 20 give it the chance to hand Parker two Day 1 starters.
Given the needs that still have to be addressed, there are some who think Dallas ' entire draft hand has to be on defense.
But we have raised the question of whether the Cowboys should completely avoid the offense.
There aren't many glaring holes, maybe right tackle. Everything else is set.
But as the draft gets underway, what will Dallas do if all of its top defensive prospects are off the board? Go offense or trade back?
For CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, in his latest mock draft, the Cowboys take USC receiver Makai Lemon.
"I have maintained all offseason that Dallas is operating as if it has to maximize the 2026 season because of the blowback from the Micah Parsons trade and an overall underwhelming recent history of results," Edwards wrote.
"Who would be more impactful in this range than Makai Lemon? The list is probably pretty small. A third receiver may seem like a luxury, but it gives the team insurance while also providing an off-ramp when it inevitably has to choose between George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb."
In Edwards' mock, Mansoor Delane, Caleb Downs, Rueben Bain Jr., Sonny Styles, Jermod McCoy, and David Bailey are all off the board.
So if this did happen on draft day, it would be interesting to say the least. The selection of Lemon is likely an insurance pick for George Pickens.
An elite slot weapon, armed with superb yards-after-the-catch ability, coupled with being a polished route runner, Dak Prescott would be getting a nice weapon.
Coming off his best-ever college season, posting 1,156 yards and 11 TDs from 79 receptions, Lemon in Dallas, as a possible third option, or second if Pickens is dealt, is an intriguing thought.
But can the Cowboys really forgo a defensive player at No. 12 if Dillon Thieneman, Avieon Terrell, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Edwards picks going to Dallas at No. 20) are still on the board?
The Cowboys have stated that they will be drafting pure. So if Lemon is sitting there at No. 12, should the franchise take him?
