The "Playmaker" is bullish on Dallas' chances in 2026.
Entering the 2026 season, there is a lot of hope and excitement surrounding the Dallas Cowboys under Brian Schottenheimer.
Granted, most of it stems from the offense led by Dak Prescott, but also some of it is because of the defensive overhaul led by Christian Parker, as most think Dallas will be far better on that side of the ball than last season.
But we haven't played a snap in 2026 yet.
And looking at the Cowboys' schedule, it isn't exactly an easy one to navigate.
With a host of playoff teams on the schedule, including Green Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Seattle, the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville, and then two games against Philadelphia, plus games against Baltimore and Tampa Bay, so yeah, it is far from a cakewalk.
Which makes predicting the season record for the Cowboys rather tough...except for franchise legend Michael Irvin.
As a guest on the Rich Eisen Show, Irvin was asked to go through the season and give a game-by-game prediction, and he has Dallas going 13-4 in 2026.
"13-4 y'all, I didn't just throw wins, I gave you how this thing would play out," Irvin said.
Now, we know that Irvin is the most optimistic Cowboys person on the planet, so 13-4 shouldn't surprise us.
But could the Cowboys, with their schedule, end the year with that record? I think that is a tough sell.
Having struggled against playoff opponents in the regular season before, Dallas faces a lot of them this upcoming season.
Yes, the offense will be good with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Javonte Williams, and Jake Ferguson, but a lot of the focus is on the defense and first-time coordinator Parker.
How the defense meshes with Parker and how long that takes could prove pivotal to Dallas' chances.
Irvin doesn't seem to be too bothered by that, and just four losses in the year, which include a Week 17 loss to the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium, mean he is really bullish on what Schottenheimer is building here.
But even the most optimistic fan would struggle to see 13 wins in 2026.
