The Cowboys have so many defensive needs, but can they forget about the offense in the draft?

For most, the Dallas Cowboys looking at an offensive player in the draft is not what fans want to hear.

Given the needs still on defense after the first wave of free agency, Dallas has two first-round picks to address more needs.

Some think another corner is needed, plus at EDGE and linebacker.

In fact, the Cowboys can still look for quality veterans at EDGE and linebacker before we get to the draft.

Armed with picks No. 12 and No. 20, the Cowboys, if things fall their way in the first round, could have the ability to pick up two Day 1 starters for Christian Parker's defense.

But are we sure that the offense, which was elite last season, will still be so good that it can be neglected in the draft?

The only need I see is possibly at right tackle with Terence Steele. Everywhere else is in good shape.

And for PFF's John Kosko, in listing a worst-case scenario for every team in the draft, he has the Cowboys' going offense in the first-round as nightmare fuel, citing Dallas' need to get two difference-makers on defense.

"With two first-round picks, the Cowboys need to double up on the defensive side of the ball," Kosko wrote. "Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense was one of the most explosive in the NFL in 2025. While Prescott has been inconsistent over the past several years, using a premium pick on the team’s offense in 2026 is not the route to take."

I think the only way Dallas goes offense is if its board gets completely wiped out early on, with Sonny Styles, Mansoor Delane, Rueben Bain Jr., David Bailey, and Caleb Downs all off the board.

Of course, if that happens, I'd imagine the Cowboys would think about trading back from No. 12.

I find it hard to believe the franchise would go offense, but as we often say, go BPA (best player available). If the next Zack Martin or CeeDee Lamb is sitting there at No. 12, are you passing because of the defensive needs?

It will be a fascinating watch to see how the Cowboys approach the draft, and even more so if their top targets get taken early.

But going offense? While we never say never, it is hard to envision the franchise adding to that side of the ball early in the first round.
