This offseason, there has been a lot of conversation about Dallas making the Super Bowl, but finally, there is one ESPN take on it that we can all agree on.
The winds of change have blown through The Star this offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, and such has been the magnitude of that change that some are bullish on 2026.
With Christian Parker overhauling the defense, with several shrewd free agency signings and draft stud Caleb Downs putting a nice bow on the offseason work, plus the offense's potency, everything is trending in the right direction.
So much so that some are putting Dallas and Super Bowl in the same sentence. Yes, even in July, some think that this Cowboys team, after a 7-9-1 record in 2025, can make it to a place they haven't been in over 30 years.
Now, is there a reason to think that this Dallas team can be better than last year's? Of course there is. In fact, you could go as far as saying this should be a playoff team, despite the schedule.
But Super Bowl? I'm not there yet.
And it appears analyst Kyle Brandt isn't either. When appearing on ESPN's GetUp, Kyle gave his opinion on the Dallas and Super Bowl talk, and you will be hard-pressed to find a fan in Cowboys Nation who won't agree with him.
"Can we go to a title game first? Realistic? We've been doing this conversation for 30 years, and it's not realistic," Brandt said. "So no, I'm not expecting it. But a title game? That's landing on the moon. One small step for man, one small step for Cowboys' kind."
Finally, a take from ESPN we agree with.
Sure, the offseason hope is in full swing, and after the Cowboys' dealings, that is fair, but let's not overextend ourselves, shall we?
After not making the playoffs for the past two seasons, let's make that the first goal.
Then win two playoff games, and suddenly, you're in the title game, and now you have had a great season. To go beyond that? Right now, I struggle to legitimately put the Cowboys in that tier.
Why? Because, as Brandt said, we have been talking about the Cowboys being Super Bowl-bound for how long, and they don't get close.
So, let's settle for smaller wins first, and go from there.
