Diggs hasn't been sighted all offseason, but now he has his chance to impress a team in the hopes of securing football for 2026.
Former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro corner Trevon Diggs has been given an NFL lifeline after being let go by the Green Bay Packers last season.
Diggs, who has been getting healthy this offseason, reportedly had a tryout with the Detroit Lions on Sunday, per NFL.com.
The 27-year-old has had a stunning fall from grace since lighting up the league in 2021 with 11 interceptions, and unfortunately for Diggs, it was only downhill from there.
Since 2022, his body has let him down, with Trevon only playing in no more than 11 games in a given year, and his time in Dallas ended rather abruptly.
With his injury rehab reportedly being a big reason, Diggs found his way to the Packers with good friend Micah Parsons, and Trevon managed one game in the regular season and was barely sighted in the Packers' playoff game.
But now, after working out by himself all offseason, Diggs now gets the chance to show that he still has juice in the tank, with the Lions' secondary in desperate need of bodies.
D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin are the starters in Detroit, and Diggs will likely be a backup if the Lions liked his workout.
The NFC North franchise clearly sees something in the former All-Pro and hopes that he might be able to help stabilize the secondary, which is still dealing with injuries to Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph.
Diggs' time in Dallas was a little turbulent, and then his brief stop in Green Bay wasn't fruitful either, so now it is back to square one for a player who was only a few years ago at the peak of his powers.
But injury and run ins with the Dallas front office now have him trying out for a roster spot.
Still, all Trevon needed was a chance, and he reportedly got that on Sunday. No details of the workout are known as of yet, but the fact that Detroit wanted to see what Diggs still has in his locker could be a good sign for the corner.
Whether or not anything comes from Digg's workout is something to watch, but it is clear he is still craving an NFL chance.
He got one with Detroit, but time will tell if he can make the most of it.
