The Cowboys would ideally not want to face a certain team late in the year.

The Dallas Cowboys already know a couple of games on their 2026 schedule, with the New York Giants up first on the road in Week 1.

Then we have a Week 3 clash against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil, and the Week 12 Thanksgiving Day game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

But that's it.

Given that Dallas will face some tough opponents in 2026, including the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars, that's tough, on paper.

So, as the NFL schedule-makers do their thing, fans are hoping the Cowboys won't face a four-week gauntlet like last season.

But what would be Dallas' one wish for its 2026 schedule?

CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo has an idea.

"Dallas was going to wish for not having yet another Week 1 road game on primetime, but that went out the window with Monday's announcement that the Giants will host the Cowboys on "Sunday Night Football," DeArdo writes. "Dallas is 2-4 in season openers this decade, with a 1-4 record in Week 1 road prime-time games over that span.

"Another possible wish could be avoiding a primetime game in Green Bay, which would surely be billed as another revenge game for Micah Parsons."

The Cowboys faced Micah Parsons in Week 4 on prime-time last season, and the game ended in a 40-40 tie.

But that was at AT&T Stadium.

So, what would truly be a nightmare scenario is having to go to Green Bay later in the year and face Parsons at Lambeau Field in the freezing cold.

It couldn't take place early in the season, which would be favorable to Dallas because we don't know when Micah will return from his ACL injury. So, making it a late-season prime-time game, this time, on Micah's home turf, could be a ratings bonanza.

We often see teams struggle in the cold at Lambeau late in the season, and the Cowboys would ideally like to avoid that, and avoid Parsons altogether by having it as an early season match-up.

But if the NFL really wanted to stage a marquee game between two NFC powerhouses, scheduling it later in the year is a great move.

However, the Cowboys will "wish" that doesn't eventuate.
