The Cowboys have made a handful of signings this offseason, but who is the pick of the bunch?

The Dallas Cowboys came into the offseason knowing that they had to overhaul their defense.

And after the first wave of free agency, the franchise didn't bust the budget as many thought; rather, it signed good, quality players for Christian Parker.

Rashan Gary, PJ Locke, Jalen Thompson, and Cobie Durant are the top signings, with three of them seen as starters in 2026.

The offense wasn't forgotten either, with Sam Howell and Matt Hennessy signed to add depth to the quarterback and offensive line rooms.

So no big-name signings have come through the doors of The Star, although Dallas did try three times to sign Maxx Crosby.

But out of the handful of signings Dallas has made this offseason, who could be seen as the best?

Granted, it is subjective as everyone will have their own thoughts on it, and for PFF's Zoltán Buday, he's gone with Thompson.

"Thompson was among the most consistent and most underrated safeties in the NFL while playing alongside Budda Baker in Arizona," Buday wrote. "The Washington State product has earned a PFF overall grade between 68.0 and 72.0 in five of his past six seasons. His 69.2 PFF coverage grade this past season ranked 26th among 93 safeties. Plus, he will be only 28 years old when the 2026 campaign kicks off."

When Thompson was signed, it felt to me like he was the only universally liked player by fans that Dallas had signed.

A versatile weapon who can play in a number of different roles, and all to a high level, Thompson will be tasked with being the glue that holds the secondary together.

A superb tackler, something the Dallas defense desperately needs, Jalen will play a pivotal role in helping the defense set up and execute Parker's vision on the field.

So Thompson, while not a big name or a household name, has every chance of being the best offseason signing for the Cowboys.

Parker clearly wanted him for a reason, and adding a veteran like Jalen to help bring the entire defense together is going to be an interesting watch in 2026.
