The Dallas Cowboys' free agency approach, while not the bust-the-budget level, has seen a handful of good, quality starters signed.
We've seen Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson and Cobie Durant sign on.
Those moves give the Cowboys' secondary some quality bodies for new coordinator Christian Parker.
Granted, some fans still think this isn't enough for the defense, and they might be right, but we are clearly seeing a vision from Dallas.
It might not be clear yet, but the way the franchise has moved over the past week shows there is intent to get better.
Now comes NFL/CFB analyst Ryan Fowler with a report that the Cowboys are planning a 30 visit with LSU's Mansoor Delane, one of the draft's top corners.
We have seen Delane mocked to Dallas multiple times, and given that prior to free agency, corner was seen as a huge need, now, with the addition of Durant to go with DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr., maybe there isn't as big a need.
And our own Mike Fisher detailed that exact point on the Fish Report.
"Cornerback acknowledged as a major need here, they didn't hide that,” Fish said. “We were all kind of sitting here wondering, okay, now you got to take a cornerback in the draft now because it didn't get done here, or you have to take a linebacker, you have to take an edge. Well, this frees them from the have to at cornerback.
"They aren't forced to take LSU's Mansoor Delane at pick number 12. They aren't forced to take Tennessee's Jermod McCoy.”
So the Cowboys haven't backed themselves into a corner here (pardon the pun), and with the franchise still hosting Delane for a 30 visit, it shows that Dallas is still very much interested.
After all, there's no harm in doing your due diligence, right?
If Delane is there at No. 12, and some of Dallas' other targets, say a few linebackers or a certain monster pass rusher, are off the board, then the Cowboys can look at Delane.
Granted, they still might look to Delane anyway.
But with the signing of Durant, Dallas won't have to draft for need at corner.
Free agency is used to fill holes in the roster, so when it comes time for the draft, you can take BPA (best player available).
Dallas has moved in such a way, at least at corner, that it doesn't have a pressing need to address.
