The Miami Dolphins have continued their low-cost signings, bringing in former defensive lineman Robert Beal Jr.

Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan continues to bring in some lower-cost and potentially high-reward signings, this time with the addition of former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Robert Beal Jr.

Beal has spent his entire career in San Francisco after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Georgia. As a member of the Bulldogs, Beal was named a two-time CFP Champion.

After being drafted by the 49ers, Beal was placed on injured reserve to start the season. He would be activated in November 2023, appearing in four games and securing his first career sack against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18.

During the 2024 season, Beal appeared in 14 games, mostly on special teams, where he secured 14 total tackles. The 2025 season was similar, as he bounced from the practice squad to the active roster throughout the season.

Beal appeared in seven games, bringing in 14 total tackles.

Despite minimal starts in the NFL thus far, Beal can find a big way to contribute on the Dolphins, especially if he is placed on a bigger special teams role.

Sullivan and the front office have engaged in plenty of depth signings to start free agency, which was his plan from the start. The cap constraints for the team were clearly not going to allow for bigger free agents, but adding depth was always going to be the case.

Sullivan promised to build through the draft, and it appears that will be the goal. There are several roster needs, which Miami can address with signings such as Beal.

The former 49ers defensive lineman can provide some depth for a line that contains Zach Sieler, Kenneth Grant, Derrick McClendon, and Cameron Goode, to name a few.

The Dolphins have remained busy through free agency despite their cap constraints. Beal now joins the likes of kicker Zane Gonzalez, secondary and special team aces Zane Anderson and Alex Austin, tight end Ben Sims, safety Lonnie Johnson Jr., and more.

Miami also brought back offensive lineman Austin Jackson on a restructured deal, tight end Greg Dulcich, linebacker Willie Gay, and more.

Expect more lower-cost signings to keep happening, as Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley round out the roster before transitioning into bringing in the younger talent through the 2026 NFL Draft.
