Armed with a fresh contract and new leadership, Miami’s explosive playmaker aims to transform his record-breaking efficiency into a historic campaign for the NFL rushing crown.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — When you set your sights on the Miami Dolphins’ offense, one player who likely comes to mind first is running back De’Von Achane.

After earning a contract extension this offseason and entering a new era under a new head coach and general manager, the 24-year-old Achane sat down with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe and Steve Smith Sr. following the conclusion of Sunday’s training camp practice, the first open to the general public.

During the interview, Achane revealed one enormous goal entering the 2026 season: securing the NFL rushing title.

"For me, it's trying to get the rushing title," a confident Achane said.

"I feel like, if I got the rushing title, then, obviously, you know, every game we're doing something good," Achane added.

For Achane, the goal is a reflection of the confidence he has built throughout his young career and the expectations he has set for himself heading into his fourth NFL season.

In his first three seasons, Achane has started 36 of a possible 44 games, rushing for 3,057 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 13 receiving touchdowns.

After showcasing his explosiveness, vision and ability to impact the game both as a runner and receiver, the Dolphins’ running back believes there is another level he can reach.

The former third-round pick out of Texas A&M has already established himself as one of the league’s most dynamic offensive weapons.

Achane's combination of speed and big-play ability has made him a constant threat whenever he touches the football, but claiming the league’s rushing crown would represent another milestone in his development.

Achane will have plenty of protection coming his way in 2026, especially on the left side of his offensive line, which features left tackle Patrick Paul, who stands 6-foot-7, and left guard Kadyn Proctor, who is also 6-foot-7.

Winning the rushing title will not come without challenges.

Achane will be competing against some of the NFL’s top running backs, and the demands of a full 17-game season require consistency, durability and preparation.

Achane can separate himself with his work ethic and belief in his abilities, which have helped fuel his rise since arriving in Miami.

As the Dolphins begin a new chapter, Achane’s ambitions remain clear.

Achane is not only aiming to be a key piece of a Dolphins offense led by quarterback Malik Willis, but he also wants to be recognized as the NFL’s top rusher.

For a player known for his speed and game-changing ability, the next step is pursuing the league’s most prestigious individual honor for his position.
