The Miami Dolphins have activated safety/linebacker Kyle Louis, and he will play in Week 7.

The Miami Dolphins are set to take on the New York Jets in Week 7, and now the team has gotten back a strong rookie player.

Rookie safety/linebacker hybrid defender Kyle Louis will play after missing the last four games due to a knee injury. Louis was activated from IR amid multiple moves the Dolphins made for the Jets matchup.

The other moves the team made include elevating kicker Zane Gonzalez and edge Max Lewellyn for the game.

Gonzalez has now taken over for Riley Patterson, who was released by the Dolphins on Oct. 20.

Miami head coach Jeff Hafley said that the release of Patterson was the best thing for the team. Gonzalez would have won the kicking job had he not been injured back in training camp.

Lewellyn has also been activated to the active roster yet again to offer some pass rush help and depth.

Louis being activated does not necessarily mean that he will get a lot of reps to start off. The usual case for players who are brought back from injury is that they are on a bit of a pitch count to start off.

The rookie defender was drafted by the Dolphins to play linebacker, but Hafley and the coaching staff saw that he had plenty of skill in coverage. He would then move into being named as part of the safety room.

Hafley spoke about Louis previously this season, stating that he would cross-train in special teams, as a safety, and in certain linebacker situations as well.

Considering the snaps that Dolphins rookies have gotten this season, Louis can now join the many others and bring in some valuable reps in 2026.

Miami has yet to win a game this season and they sit at 0-5 through six weeks. After a Week 6 bye, the hope for the team is they got the kind of rest they needed to grind out their first win.

The issue is that the Dolphins are facing their divisional rivals, the Jets, a team that has struggled in 2026 but is also very competitive. Most of New York's losses have come by one touchdown or less.

Sunday will be a tough challenge for the Dolphins, but they now have Louis and fellow rookie Caleb Douglas back in the lineup. Both might offer some huge boosts and lead to a win.

That win might also work to provide the team with the kind of confidence where they grind out multiple wins moving forward.
