Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane has reportedly arrived at the team's training facility while a new deal is being worked on.
Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has been adamant that the team is not willing to trade running back De'Von Achane, and they are instead working on a long-term extension for the Pro Bowler.
While it is understandable to be skeptical of Sullivan's words, considering the state of the Dolphins roster, it appears that Achane will indeed not be traded. Per a new report from Adam Schefter, the back has reported to the team's facility as a "show of good faith."
"Miami running back De'Von Achane, who was not present for the start of the team’s voluntary off-season workout program last week, was spotted in the Dolphins’ training facility today, per sources. It is believed that Achane showed up as a sign of good faith as the two sides continue discussing a contract extension, per source," Schefter said on X.
Achane initially did not show up to the team's start of their voluntary offseason program, but it makes sense why he would show up now, given the reports on an extension. Sullivan indicated as much, revealing on Wednesday that talks were "ongoing" and headed in a "positive" direction.
Achane has established himself as one of the best backs in the league, securing 1,838 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns from scrimmage. This includes 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with 488 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
The Dolphins running back also led the league with a 5.7 yards per carry average in 2025. Achane has established himself as not only a downhill runner that rifle off chunk yardage, but can also catch and run.
Naturally, the Dolphins want to ensure he remains with the team, which is why an extension is being discussed, even if it's premature. Achane is still in his rookie deal, but has rightfully earned the right to demand more money.
Sullivan spoke about Achane being a building block for this new Dolphins team, and that appears to be the case. With the back in the building, it is presumed that an extension will be forthcoming.
How much Miami will fork over remains to be seen, but Achane is likely to be paid in the top 10 at the position.
