The Miami Dolphins have released their second injury report ahead of Week 7, and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. has been added.
The Miami Dolphins have released their second injury report ahead of their matchup with the New York Jets.
Despite not many changes, linebacker Willie Gay Jr. has now been added to the report with an illness.
The second injury report is as follows:
| Player | Position | Injury | Wed | Thu | Fri | Game Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Willie Gay Jr. | ILB | Illness | (-) | DNP | (-) | |
| Reese Taylor | CB | Quad | DNP | DNP | (-) | |
| Tucker Addington | LS | Shoulder | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Rob Beal Jr. | EDGE | Hamstring | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Caleb Douglas | WR | Ankle | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Will Kacmarek | TE | Hamstring | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Kyle Louis | S | Knee | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Jaylen Wright | RB | Foot | LP | LP | (-) | |
| Julius Brents | CB | Heel | FP | FP | (-) | |
| Jordyn Brooks | ILB | Foot | FP | FP | (-) | |
| Jonah Savaiinaea | G | Ankle | FP | FP | (-) | |
| Malik Willis | QB | Right Thumb | FP | FP | (-) | |
| Jackson Woodard | ILB | Ankle | FP | FP | (-) |
In addition to Gay missing practice on Thursday due to an illness, cornerback Reese Taylor missed a second day of practice due to a quad injury.
Long snapper Tucker Addington (shoulder), edge Robert Beal Jr. (hamstring), wide receiver Caleb Douglas (ankle), tight end Will Kacmarek (hamstring), safety Kyle Louis (knee), and running back Jaylen Wright (foot) have all remained limited through two practices.
Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley stated that they would see how both Douglas and Louis would practice to determine if they could return in Week 7.
Douglas may be a bit farther along than Louis, but the receiver has been limited for two straight days. If he remains limited on Friday, that may point to him not being able to play. However, being limited does not rule one out either.
Additionally, Louis has also remained limited due to a knee injury. The case might be that he will remain out to heal up more and be ready to play in Week 8 instead.
The Dolphins barely opened up the 21-day practice window for Louis, meaning that he will have up to 21 days to officially return and be ready to play.
The run game might also look vastly different if Wright cannot play. He has been hit with a nagging foot injury that has kept him off the field.
Ollie Gordon II has taken over in fine style, but the Miami offense will still need a strong backup for Gordon should anything happen injury-wise.
Cornerback JuJu Brents (heel), linebacker Jordyn Brooks (foot), guard Jonah Savaiinaea (ankle), quarterback Malik Willis (thumb), and linebacker Jackson Woodard (ankle) all practiced in full for a second straight day.
Getting Savaiinaea back healthy is huge for the Dolphins' offensive line. He exited in Week 5 due to an ankle injury and did not return.
The Dolphins have yet to win a game and will now be facing a tough New York Jets team. This will be a tough divisional game, on top of the added pressure of Miami still not having won in 2026.
A win might also be what the Miami organization needs to put together a string of victories.
