The Miami Dolphins could bolster their defense in the upcoming draft by taking top pass rusher from Miami, Rueben Bain Jr.

The Miami Dolphins are projected to be among the worst teams in the league in 2026.

They've shaken up their roster like no other, but it's all in preparation for the years beyond the 2026 season. The upcoming 2026 NFL Draft will be a major opportunity for the Dolphins brass to rebuild the team in a way that has not been done for the organization in decades.

Miami is in a prime position to do so as they hold the No. 11 overall pick in the draft. They have a chance to select a difference maker on either side of the ball, and one player they have been linked to is Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr.

Bain Jr. has established himself as one of the best players in the 2026 draft. Miami has a chance to select him, and they have shown plenty of interest. According to Miami Hurricanes insider Jordan McPherson, Bain Jr. told him that he is set to meet with the Dolphins on Tuesday.

"Bain said he will meet with the Dolphins brass on Tuesday. Miami has two first-round picks this year — Nos. 11 and 30."

The 21-year-old Miami native added that he has talked with the Dolphins throughout this draft process.

“That’s the hometown team,” Bain said. “So I’ll get to experience that. I’ve been going to that stadium all my life.

“I’ve been putting on and showing why I am, who I am and showing that, man, I’m a hometown kid,” Bain said. “This is what I grew up feeling. And showed my passion about football and about the team, the program. Just showcasing my talents and who I am.”

Bain Jr. spent three seasons with Miami, establishing himself as an elite pass rusher, drawing comparisons to Philadelphia Eagles champion Brandon Graham.

The All-American defensive end has all the tools to be a difference maker in the NFL and certainly with the Dolphins. According to NFL Draft Buzz, Bain Jr. is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 at his position.

He has an elite first step, as he can move before tackles get their hands set. On top of that, Bain Jr. plays with real aggression, with his ability to crash gaps and hold up against double teams from tackles and tight ends.

Bain Jr.'s arm length is certainly not his strongest suit, and his inability to finish tackles could be a problem right out of the gate.

Still, there's no denying his talent and his ability to be a game-wrecker.
