Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Terron Armstead raved about linebacker Jordyn Brooks after the contract extension.
The Miami Dolphins took care of one of their own on Tuesday when they extended All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
The 28-year-old signed a lucrative three-year, $51.3 million contract that includes $35 million in guaranteed money. After Brooks signed the contract, his former teammate and All-Pro offensive tackle, Terron Armstead, praised him.
In his podcast, Armstead said there’s not a linebacker playing better than Brooks.
"There’s not a linebacker in the NFL playing better than Jordyn Brooks," Armstead said. "The man is sideline to sideline; he’s flying downhill. Any tackle for loss that happens for the Dolphins is Jordyn Brooks. The physicalness, the relentlessness, the energy, the edge that he’s playing with is fire. He’s on fire."
Armstead went on say that Brooks is playing the best football of his career.
"Jordyn Brooks is playing the best football of his career and he looks like he’s the best linebacker in the NFL.
"J.B. you balling dawg. I see you. You are popping on the film like every time you turn on the film, you find number 20. He is all over the tape."
Brooks, the six-year NFL veteran and former first-round pick, has spent the last two seasons manning the middle for Miami’s defense.
Once again, he will do that in what will be a rebuilding season for the Dolphins. Not much is expected of the team in 2026, but Brooks could change that with his play and leadership.
For starters, Brooks’ play was as solid as it comes in 2025. In 17 games last season, the former Texas Tech Red Raider recorded 183 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, three passes defended, and one fumble recovery.
Since arriving in Miami in the spring of 2024, Brooks has established himself as an elite linebacker and worthy of that first-round pick.
Dolphins general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan identified Brooks as one of the pillars of the team when he first got the job. Earlier in the offseason, Sullivan took care of running back De’Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer.
Brooks is the undisputed leader of the linebacker room, a room that is certainly a strength for the team. By his side will be fellow veteran Tyrel Dodson, who recorded 129 tackles and five sacks.
On top of that, the Dolphins added two rookies who can play a pivotal role this season and certainly moving forward in Jacob Rodriguez and Kyle Louis.
The linebacker room is promising for the Dolphins, but it all starts and ends with Brooks.
