Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is attempting a return, but that return could be halted by his civil lawsuit.

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is looking to make his NFL return. After suffering a gruesome knee injury that led to a torn ACL, MCL, and more in 2025, the speedster has spent over a year in recovery.

Hill began to post videos online of his recovery, which pointed to his inching closer to signing with a new team. Despite news of his being looked at by multiple teams, the latest in the player's legal matters could halt that progress.

It was reported on Tuesday by The Athletic's Adam Kilgore that Hill has been found liable for two of the 10 counts that his former wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro Hill, filed against him. With the judgment coming down, the former Dolphins receiver was also ordered to pay Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages.

Kilgore reported that both Hill and Vaccaro left the courtroom smiling, though he described the situation as not being a "legal win for either party."

Even more so than the money that Hill has to pay, he may now be subject to discipline from the league if this sitaution falls under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Criminal charges do not have to be filed for a player to have violated the personal conduct policy. Also, per Kilgore, league sources confirmed that the NFL is looking into this matter.

"Following Tuesday’s verdict, an NFL spokesperson told The Athletic that the league has been 'monitoring developments in the matter, which remains under review of the personal conduct policy,'" Kilgore said.

Hill may still be subject to a suspension once the NFL completes its own investigation into the matter.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, also spoke on the latest developments regarding his client's return, stating that he remains in discussions with multiple teams regarding the return of the former Dolphins receiver.

Rosenhaus stated that "nothing is imminent," which may point to either the legal matter needing to find a conclusion or Hill not quite being in the shape that he needs to be to play again in 2026.

During one of Hill's videos, he stated that he was not at 100 percent on the leg that was injured. That video was posted in late July, and he may have recovered far more at this point.

Either way, Hill will be one of the hottest players to watch among playoff contenders attempting to bolster their rosters for a playoff push. That will also depend on whether or not the receiver will face punishment from the NFL.

A reunion with the Kansas City Chiefs might be the most logical place for Hill to land, and there have been plenty of rumors pointing to that.

Hill spent the 2022 to 2025 seasons with the Dolphins, where he brought in 4,733 yards, 27 touchdowns, two All-Pro nods, and two Pro Bowl nods. During the 2023 season, he led the league with 1,799 yards, 13 touchdowns, and a 112.4 yards-per-game average.
