Schedule leaks may or may not be true, but two separate leaks have now confirmed when the Miami Dolphins will take on the New York Jets.

The NFL schedule is set to be released on May 14, and certain games have started to eke out. The Miami Dolphins were graced with not having to play an international game, but the rest of their matchups have yet to be determined.

Despite the confirmed reports, there are also unconfirmed schedule leaks that will start to pour out. While these leaks can oftentimes be correct, take the validity of the news with a grain of salt. Per two separate and unconfirmed sources, the Dolphins will play the New York Jets during Weeks 1 and 7.

The first unconfirmed leak comes from longtime Miami reporter Barry Jackson, who posted that the ESPN affiliate in New York has indicated that the Dolphins take on the Jets to open the season.

Should this be the case, it would be a favorable situation for both teams. Miami has gone through sizable changes in the offseason, with a brand-new general manager, coaching staff, and more.

Similarly, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn essentially fired all of his previous coaches, and the team is in its own sort of rebuild. As teams begin to establish themselves and their identity early on, the Dolphins could start the season 1-0 due to New York being in a nearly identical situation.

The second leak comes from known NFL leaker on X, NFL Nerd. Again, these are all unofficial leaks.

Per the NFL Nerd on X, the Dolphins will play the Jets again in Week 7. Again, this a favorable matchup, as it eliminates one divisional opponent early on.

There could be a situation where the Dolphins may be more competitive than expected, and if that is the case, having a 2-0 record against the Jets would only help their chances at a playoff run down the stretch.

This is assuming the Dolphins are competitive in 2026 and are in a position where they can make the postseason. Should the team be something along the 3-2 or 4-1 type of record by the time they face the Jets again, a win here would be ideal for the chance at a divisional crown.

Mentioning Miami and a playoff berth might sound a bit far-fetched, but crazier things have happened. It is not out of the realm of possibility that the team experiences an immediate turnaround under first-time NFL head coach Jeff Hafley.

Again, these leaks are not official by any means, so they are not to be taken seriously just yet. Until the league confirms the leaks or they are confirmed via the official schedule on May 14, they are simply potential matchup dates.
