Analysis on Grade for Kadyn Proctor Pick
Considering the Dolphins moved down one spot with the Dallas Cowboys and picked up two extra fifth-round picks (No. 177 and 180), the belief was that they would go pick and take Miami Hurricanes edge Rueben Bain Jr.
Even trading down seemed like a confusing move for the Dolphins, as they could have also stayed put and taken Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, who instead went to the Cowboys at Pick No. 11.
General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley spoke about the types of players they wanted in the building, which was summed up as individuals with a love for football and ones that show tons of passion.
One of the biggest drawbacks to Proctor was many believed that he showed some sort of lethargic attitude to start the 2025 season, where he struggled mightily. However, he did pick things up in latter half.
The good news is that Proctor is a massive human, coming in at 6-foot-6 and 352 pounds. He moves great for his size, and he does everything to finish his assignments.
Considering the Dolphins are planning to run the ball a lot with Achane, Proctor is the kind of lineman that can certainly move defenders out of the way. It will just be up to his technique.
The bad news is that Proctor was considered more of a fringe first-round pick, and more so a player that could have been there for the Dolphins at No. 30 or in the second round at pick No. 43.
Proctor has a lot to clean up, and could do so with time, which makes his addition a bit strange. Patrick Paul is in the left tackle position and one of the best in the league.
Austin Jackson is on the right side, but has had trouble staying on the field. Regardless, he should be the starter if healthy.
Proctor may be considered a swing tackle for that reason, or the Dolphins may be looking to kick him to the inside, which would also be strange considering his lack of experience at the position.
