A look at the Miami Dolphins' safety room ahead of training camp.

The Miami Dolphins may have some big questions regarding the secondary, but there is an expectation that the current safeties on the roster could be a bit more of a shining spot as opposed to the cornerbacks.

Dante Trader Jr. impressed through OTAs and mincamp, and he could be the ascendant leader of the group.

Here is a look at the current safety room for the Dolphins ahead of training camp.

Dolphins Safeties on the Roster

Dante Trader Jr.

As stated above, Trader could be the leader amongst the safety group for the Dolphins. Despite a new system, he has shown the kind of grit that head coach Jeff Hafley is looking for.

Trade is entering his second year in the NFL, but this could be one where he truly breaks out, especially given that he is slated to be a starter.

Zayne Anderson

Zayne Anderson is one of the many former Packers players who followed Hafley to Miami. After falling down the depth chart, he has a chance to emerge in the Dolphins system in a big way.

Louis Moore

Louis Moore is an undrafted free agent who could have a chance to make the 53-man roster for a safety room that needs plenty of depth.

Lonnie Johnson Jr.

Lonnie Johnson Jr. is a longtime veteran who suffered a fractured fibula with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025. After nine games during the season, he joined the Dolphins in 2026 with a chance to push himself into a starting role.

Major Burns

Major Burns joined the Dolphins after making the All-UFL team with the Houston Gamblers. He is an intriguing player who could have some high potential in his return to the NFL.

Michael Taaffe

Michael Taaffe is the Dolphins' lone drafted safety. Taken in the fifth round out of Texas, he will have to battle it out to ensure he works his way up the depth chart come Week 1.

Additonal backups:

Omar Brown

Biggest Safety Questions

Did the Dolphins do enough for the safety room?

Trader may need to show some big growth to ensure that Miami made the right decisions in their safety room. Currently, it is full of low-cost veterans and young players who could meld together, but there is some worry there.

Which player will step up?

Apart from Trader, who is expected to step up, which player is the likeliest to join him in showcasing some strong skills in the secondary? It could be Taaffe, who has impressed thus far as a young prospect.
