The Philadelphia Eagles went to Washington on Saturday and came away with an impressive 29-18 win over the Commanders. It was their 10th win of the season.
And worth just a little bit more.
With the win, the Eagles have clinched the NFC East division title, their second in a row. It's the first time someone has repeated as NFC East champions since the Eagles won four in a row from 2001 to 2004.
The Eagles understood the magnitude of the moment, and celebrated in style. They posed for pictures, and wore division champion gear, including T-shirts that read: "Been There, Won That."
"It's hard to do this," said Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, who is headed to the postseason for the fifth straight year. "In this division, we've seen the data that says it's hard to repeat as winners, and we're happy about that.
"We'll celebrate it, but we've got a lot to clean up. And then, we've got a lot more goals on our mind."
Here's the game story from Eagles Roundtable writer Ben Cooper.
Running back Saquon Barkley led the way for the Eagles with 132 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. He had 84 yards after contact, his most in a game since 2019 against Washington when he was a member of the New York Giants.
Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts was 22-for-30 passing for 185 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions. He also had 40 rushing yards on seven carries.
Hurts has won a Super Bowl MVP and is making the playoffs again for the fifth straight year since taking over as the Eagles' starter. He's had some ups and downs, but winning back-to-back titles is a big deal.
"These times, they're rare times," Hurts said. "So, something that we all need to soak in and we relish in this moment right now, and take it a day at a time, as we always have."
With their 10-5 record, the Eagles currently hold the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoff race. They would host the second wild-card seed at present. The current wild-card pecking order is the Los Angeles Rams (11-4), San Francisco 49ers (10-4) and Green Bay Packers (9-5-1).
