The future of the Philadelphia Eagles' star Jalen Carter has been up in the air as of late. After some reporting by Adam Schefter, his future has become crystal clear.

The NFL is only two days into its free agency period, and we've already seen some absolutely insane headlines. The biggest news, of course being the Ravens' backing out of the trade for Maxx Crosby. The Philadelphia Eagles have had quite a wild few days as well.

Just before the NFL's legal tampering period began, the Eagles signed DT Jordan Davis to a contract extension. After that, it looked pretty bleak. They lost Nakobe Dean, Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Jahon Dotson all on day one of free agency.

They were able to salvage the poor optics yesterday by signing one of the most elite defensive backs on the market in Seattle's Riq Woolen. Despite that successful signing, one large question about the defense loomed.

What are the Eagles going to do with DT Jalen Carter?

Once Davis was signed to his extension, questions began to swirl regarding the future of Philadelphia's other elite interior defensive lineman. There had been reports that the Eagles could even look to move Carter.

After some reporting today from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Carter's future with the Eagles has become clear.

Schefter Says Jalen Carter was "Never Shopped"

During an appearance on ESPN's Pat McAfee Show, Adam Schefter reported that even though there had been a lot of noise surrounding Carter, the Eagles never had the intention of moving the talented big man.

"Yeah, the Eagles never have shopped him. Never have shopped him. And that doesn't mean they can't in the future, but they have not made him available."

When you hear that, at first, you would think it goes against the reporting that teams were calling Philadelphia for Carter, but not necessarily.

Just because teams were calling, that doesn't mean that the Eagles were seriously listening. And frankly, why would they?

Jalen Carter is one of the more elite interior defensive linemen in the entire NFL. In just three short years with the Eagles, Carter has amassed 108 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 13 batted down passes.

Doing all that is tremendous on its own, but when you see him doing it with the level of quickness and agility he's playing with at 6'3 " 315 lbs, you realize the Eagles are employing a freak of nature.

It makes all the sense in the world that Philadelphia would want to retain him, and with Jaelan Phillips leaving in free agency, it's even more imperative that they keep as much talent on the defensive line as possible.
