The Philadelphia Eagles could look to trade quarterback Tanner McKee, says one NFL analyst.
The Philadelphia Eagles come into the 2026 season with serious questions to answer along the offense.
With star wide receiver A.J. Brown gone, others on the roster are going to have t step up. This means that more responsibility will be placed on the shoulders of starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts saw some real issues last year, mainly with his consistency. But the Eagles are confident that Hurts can bounce back this season.
Behind him is veteran Tanner McKee, who is vying for the backup role. However, with the Eagles having multiple options behind Hurts, McKee could be seen as a possible trade chip.
And according to NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report, McKee is listed as a possible backup quarterback that could be moved during the season. Philadelphia also has veteran Andy Dalton on the roster, but McKee hold a higher ceiling for interested teams.
McKee has only played in six regular season games since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. But this could see teams be intrigued by his services if moved.
"While McKee displayed enough promise in these regular season contests to make him a desirable trade target for rival franchises, he also failed cement his status as Hurts' primary backup during the 2026 offseason," Kay wrote. "As tantalizing as McKee's ceiling may be, the Eagles find themselves in a position where they can move on from this polarizing 26-year-old while still having a proven old hand to work directly behind Hurts and a long-term project to bring along if they keep both Dalton and Payton."
McKee has thrown for 597 yards with five touchdowns and one interception over his NFL career so far. While the numbers look good in a limited time, McKee could be given a larger role with another team.
Philadelphia may elect to hold onto McKee, but if a team were to come offering a mid-round draft, the Eagles could make a move. For now, McKee will remain with the Eagles, but the team can't afford to hold onto this many quarterbacks.
Philadelphia likes McKee, but his ability to see the field is limited with Hurts as the starter for the long-haul. McKee at least offers them a chance to get something of value, which could see him be moved.
The Eagles will open the new NFL season against the Washington Commanders this weekend. Head coach Nick Sirianni will reveal who the backup will be before then, giving more clues into a potential McKee trade down the line.
