Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Carter is playing through a serious injury.
Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Carter has a hairline fracture in his right wrist, NFL sources told The Inquirer.
Carter suffered the injury in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders. He has played the last two games with a soft cast.
Carter’s playing time has decreased since the injury. He played 66 snaps in the opener (94%), 41 snaps vs. the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 (77%) and 51 snaps (71%) in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.
The Eagles are 2-1. Carter has one sack, four solo tackles, two tackles for loss and one QB hit through three games.
Philadelphia signed Carter to a four-year, $152 million extension worth up to $160 million, including $106 million guaranteed. The Eagles selected Carter with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Carter has 14.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss and 38 QB hits in 46 NFL games. He made the Pro Bowl in 2024 and 2025 and helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl during the 2024 season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Carter's 83 pass-rush wins as an interior lineman since 2023 are tied for the seventh most in the NFL. He's one of the best players in the league and the Eagles made the right move by signing him to an extension.
Philadelphia plays the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4. The Rams are 1-2.
Not only did the Eagles lose to the Bears in Week 3 on Monday Night Football, but QB Jalen Hurts also played poorly for all to see. The Pro Bowler went 16/25 through the air for 153 passing yards and one interception. He ran the ball four times for 25 yards and a score.
Philadelphia scored just seven points against Chicago and lost by a final score of 27-7, dropping to 2-1 on the season.
Entering this season, concerns lingered that Hurts would struggle in a new offense. Through three games, Hurts has 620 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and three interceptions.
Even though the Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
A talented runner and thrower, Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
Hurts entered this season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and won Super Bowl LIX MVP against the Chiefs.
