Sunday wasn't a good day for the Philadelphia Eagles offense.
The Philadelphia Eagles lost their fourth straight game on Sunday, falling to the Carolina Panthers at home.
The Eagles now sit with a record of 2-4 on the season, with the injuries starting to pile up as well. Philadelphia has seen its offensive be ravaged by injury, and now the rest of the season seems bleak.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts missed the game on Sunday against the Panthers due to a scary blood clot issue. Hurts will now be out for the remainder of the season due to the blood clot in his lung, and his future with the team remains in question.
This is a very scary situation, and one that the Eagles will closely monitor to make sure that Hurts is okay. His health is of the utmost importance, and the team will now move forward with backup Tanner McKee as the starting quarterback.
McKee got the start against the Panthers, and the Eagles' offense was very limited in what it could do. The backup finished the game throwing for 215 yards and one touchdown, but the offense couldn't muster much against Carolina.
Due to his lackluster performance, McKee earned a quarterback grade of "C-" from NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report. McKee had Philadelphia's offense being very one-dimensional, and the Panthers were able to take full advantage of the situation.
The Eagles' defense was able to keep the team in the game, but in the end, the lack of offense was too much for Philadelphia to overcome. With McKee being the starter going forward, the Eagles could be in some trouble if he can't turn things around.
McKee is going to have to play better if the Eagles want to turn the season around, but this could be very tough to do. The backup doesn't have much experience to work with, and with all the other injuries on the roster, McKee has been put into a tough spot.
In addition to losing Hurts, the Eagles were playing without star running back Saquon Barkley in the game due to a hamstring injury. Barkley has dealt with multiple issues this season, and he's been in-and-out of the lineup all year.
Next up for the Eagles will be a matchup against the rival Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football this coming week. Dallas's defense has been struggling all season long, and this could be an opportunity for Philadelphia to get McKee into a nice rhythm for the rest of the year.
