Saquon Barkley is staying with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles' front office told RB Saquon Barkley that he will not be traded this season.
The Eagles have lost six straight games and are now 2-6 this season. They have one game remaining before the trade deadline.
"When that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot," Barkley said after the Eagles lost to the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football. "The whole time, my mindset was we have a little issue going on right now and I feel like I'm the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it."
Barkley, who has been dealing with hamstring and back injuries, once again had his snaps limited against the Commanders. He played 22 of a possible 68 plays and ended with 14 touches for 54 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs in Barkley's first season in Philadelphia. He had 2,005 rushing yards in the 2024 season.
Philadelphia won the NFC East again last season. However, Barkley and Co. lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round.
The Eagles traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots and replaced Kevin Patullo with Sean Mannion this offseason. Philadelphia started this season 2-0, but it's been all downhill ever since Week 3.
The NFL and NFLPA are working together to review the Eagles' handling of QB Jalen Hurts' blood clot diagnosis.
The NFL and players' union released a joint statement saying they are looking into it after the NFLPA called for an investigation earlier in the week.
Hurts, who played against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London despite getting little sleep and having a superficial blood clot in his calf, will miss the rest of the 2026 season.
The 28-year-old Hurts is clinically stable and his treatment requires blood thinners. He can’t play football while on blood thinners.
Nicole Lynn, Hurts’ agent, and the Eagles said in a statement that Hurts’ diagnosis is deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. The latter condition indicates blood clots in the lungs. During treatment, Hurts will remain around the team and work on his conditioning.
Hurts requested treatment for a calf injury he suffered after being “cleated” during a game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4. On October 10 in London, the Eagles diagnosed Hurts with superficial vein thrombosis in his left calf. He was cleared to play in the game, which makes no sense.
Hurts underwent an ultrasound after the Jaguars game and movement was found in the blood clot. The Eagles ruled out Hurts for their game against the Carolina Panthers and now the star will miss the rest of the 2026 season.
Hurts put up 933 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, three interceptions, 107 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown this season. He completed 57.8% of his passes.
Hurts entered this season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and won Super Bowl LIX MVP with Brown against the Chiefs.
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
A talented runner and thrower, Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
The hope is that Hurts recovers from this serious blood clot diagnosis and returns to the NFL next season. He's one of the best players and people in football.
