ESPN projected Jalen Hurts' stat line for the Philadelphia Eagles-Tennessee Titans game.
The Philadelphia Eagles face the Tennessee Titans in Week 2, looking to start the season 2-0 after beating the Washington Commanders in Week 1.
ESPN has projected Jalen Hurts' stat line for the Eagles-Titans game: 20/30, 232 passing yards, one passing touchdown, one interception, 29 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown.
"Hurts tossed three touchdowns in Week 1 for the Eagles. Hurts was not terribly efficient, though did hit on several big plays en route to the 24-22 win. Hurts also rushed for 46 yards in a brand new offense under the direction of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. In Week 2, Philadelphia will face a dismal Titans squad that allowed 367 yards from scrimmage to the Jets in their season opener. Tennessee was torched on the ground in particular, allowing 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns."
Hurts' naysayers were nowhere to be found in Week 1. Why? Because the one-time Super Bowl MVP had an outstanding game, going 14/25 through the air for 203 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
Hurts also had seven carries for 46 rushing yards for the Eagles, who beat the Commanders by a final score of 24-22.
"I think he did a really nice job, had a really nice game and made a lot of plays," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said about Hurts. "He made plays that only Jalen Hurts is capable of making at times across the entire league. With some of those new things that we were doing, I though he did a nice job.
"Now, not a surprise to me. I was talking to somebody; we had 46 days or 47 days in training camp to get ready for that first game. We’re seeing that on a daily basis, that improvement. I get it, you guys don’t get to see that on a daily basis like we do. I thought he handled those things well. To be quite honest with you, we wouldn’t have put those things in had we [not thought] he could function them at a very high level. I thought he did a really nice job, and like I said, played a nice game."
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
If Hurts plays well all season and leads the Eagles to another Super Bowl, he will get another huge extension.
A talented runner and thrower, Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
“There’s room to improve," Hurts said after Week 1. "Look, it’s a really good team first and foremost. It’s a really good team and I don’t want to take anything away from how they played. Our defense played well, and I think we’ve got to help them out in terms of capitalizing on that field position and taking advantage of the opportunities we have but take nothing away from their Defensive Coordinator and the way that they call their game and how their players played. They played, attacked the ball, really populated the line of scrimmage in a multitude of ways and it’s something that we’ll learn from.”
