Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni may be coaching for his job the rest of the season.
The Philadelphia Eagles now sit at 2-2 on the new NFL season following two straight losses.
Philadelphia has looked like a shell of itself on the field over the last two weeks, with the offense sputtering out of control. This has led to all sorts of questions around the team, especially about quarterback Jalen Hurts.
While the play from Hurts has come into question, there have also been other issues across the team. Play-calling has been a problem, with many fans frustrated with how the team has been operated to open the season.
With the struggles on offense, hot seat rumors have begun around head coach Nick Sirianni. Before the Eagles won the Super Bowl a few seasons ago, Sirianni was placed on the hot seat, with fans calling for him to be let go.
And now, according to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Sirianni could be on the hot seat if this team doesn't turn it around. Despite all the success that the Eagles have seen with the head coach, the job isn't being done, and the rumors have started up again.
The Eagles have shown a willingness to move on from head coaches in the past despite success, and this could play out in a similar way. Philadelphia is one of the most pressure-filled situations in the league, and unless results are happening every year, moves could be made.
Sirianni has won a Super Bowl with the Eagles, while also winning 70 percent of his games with the team. But the NFL is a what have you done lately league, and the Eagles have struggled to open the year.
If the Eagles can't turn things around the rest of the way, big changes could end up being made. Sirianni may be coaching for his job over the course of the season, and there will be all sorts of narratives to come out.
While it may not be fair to the head coach, the results on the field tend to speak for themselves. Philadelphia is looking to win more titles, and right now, the Eagles don't seem like a true contender in the NFC.
But luckily for Sirianni, there is a lot of the season left to go, giving him a chance to silence all noise from the outside. However, there needs to be a sense of urgency from this group, starting this coming week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
If Philadelphia were to drop the game to the Jaguars, the noise would only grow even louder. After playing Jacksonville, the Eagles will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
