Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts wasn't at his best against the Los Angeles Rams this week.
The Philadelphia Eagles fell to the Los Angeles Rams this weekend, falling 24-20 at home.
It was a disappointing effort all around for the Eagles, who saw a lead disappear against the Rams. Philadelphia now sits at 2-2 on the season, with the team dropping two straight games after a hot start to the year.
One of the big reasons why the Eagles lost this game to the Rams was the lackluster performance from the offense. Once again, Philadelphia could find any consistency on that side of the ball, and it came back to hurt them.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts looked like a shell of himself out on the field against Los Angeles, throwing for just 93 yards and two touchdowns.
The entire offense stalled out in this game, but third down was especially bad for the Eagles. Philadelphia went 0-12 on third down in the game, which was the worst outing in Eagles franchise history.
Not everything is on the shoulders of Hurts, but as the leader, he will get a lot of the blame for the outing. Hurts will need to play much better going forward; otherwise, more questions are going to be asked about him.
Due to the poor performance, NFL analyst Brent Soblesk of Bleacher Report gave Hurts a letter grade of a "D" for the outing against Los Angeles. Hurts struggled for the entire game, and the grade is fair for the performance that he put together on the field.
In fairness of Hurts, the team was down multiple offensive weapons, but the veteran still needs to put together a better outing. Hurts just couldn't muster up much against a tough Rams defense, and it ended up hurting the Eagles in the end.
Star wide receiver DeVonta Smith missed the game due to a hamstring injury, while running back Saquon Barkley left the game early. This hurt the overall ceiling of the team, and Hurts did what he could with the others on the field.
As the season moves on, the offense is going to have to figure out how to navigate any in jury issues that may come up. Philadelphia is far too talented of a team to look like they did on Sunday against the Rams, and the pressure is now on.
Next up for the Eagles is a trip to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving them a chance to right the ship. Jacksonville is a very good team, and this will be a good challenge for Philadelphia.
