Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was ranked on a tough list after Week 5.
The Philadelphia Eagles dropped a tough game to the Jacksonville Jaguars over the weekend, with the team melting down in the end.
The Eagles have now lost three straight games, seeing their record drop down to 2-3 on the season. This marks the first time that the Eagles are under .500 for the first time since 2021.
The last few weeks have been tough for the Eagles, with the offense spiraling out of control at times. Philadelphia has also dealt with a ton of key injuries, limiting what this team could do out on the field.
But the loss to the Jaguars was a gut punch for the Eagles, especially since they fought undermanned all game long. However, in the end, it wasn't enough for Philadelphia to break their losing streak.
NFL analyst Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports ranked coaching mistakes from Week 5, with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni coming in at the No. 2 spot. Sirianni wasn't the one who made the blunder on the field, but he gets the blame for the team being in a position to lose the game.
On the kick to the Jaguars that was eventually returned far enough to have a chance to kick the game-winning field goal, the Eagles could have made sure to not put the ball in play. Philadelphia shouldn't have allowed Jacksonville to even get a return off, in the slight chance of them taking the kick back far enough.
This is where Sirianni gets the blame, for not making sure the team understood what they needed to do in the situation. But after the game, Sirianni did take accountability for the loss, which should bode well within the locker room.
Sirianni put the loss fully on himself, and this is what good coaches do after their teams drop certain games. The veteran coach has been around long enough to understand this, and the Eagles' players certainly will appreciate the public gesture from their leader.
The Eagles will now move forward after the loss, looking ahead to the upcoming matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is coming off a bye week, meaning that they are well-rested entering the contest.
The Panthers are 2-2 on the season, with both teams looking to grab a big NFC win this week. But if the Eagles aren't careful, this team could fall even further behind, and Sirianni will have to have his guys ready to go against Carolina.
