Could the Philadelphia Eagles make a move for this potential AJ Brown replacement during the 2026 NFL offseason?

With the 2026 NFL free agency period kicking off next week, the Philadelphia Eagles remain in an intriguing spot heading into this offseason.

One of the primary storylines that continues to gain attention from the fan base is whether or not star wide receiver AJ Brown will be traded after clearly indicating his dissatisfaction with the organization.

However, general manager Howie Roseman will likely not move on from Brown before the 2026 season unless he has his replacement lined up.

Luckily for the front office, there is an option that could potentially hit the free agency market this offseason in Indianapolis Colts’ veteran wideout Michael Pittman Jr.

Why Pittman Fits With The Eagles

As a former second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Pittman has progressively grown into an underrated wide receiver at the NFL level. After showing great promise as a rookie, the USC pass catcher had a breakout season with the Colts in 2021, recording 1,082 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 88 catches.

Since his terrific second year in Indianapolis, Pittman has proven to be a reliable option in the Colts’ passing game over the past four seasons, but he is coming off one of his worst statistical seasons in 2025. Pittman finished with 784 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 80 receptions due to the emergence of Alec Pierce.

Now, with Pierce set to become a free agent, the Colts are in the process of extending him this offseason, which could lead to Pittman becoming a cap casuality, according to multiple reports. If that is the case, Roseman must act quickly and attempt to land him.

Signing Pittman would be an ideal move for the Eagles, as his skill set is similar to Brown’s on offense. Both receivers have shown their abilities to be a true “X”, giving Philadelphia the opportunity to move off Brown for additional draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft and beyond.
