The Eagles still have the draft to look forward to, but with nearly $40 million in cap space remaining, why not swing for a big name?
For the Philadelphia Eagles, this offseason has not been particularly kind to them, especially on the defensive side of the football. They've lost three of their key players in Reed Blankenship, Nakobe Dean, and Jaelan Phillips.
There is a bright side, however. Through craft maneuvering of in-house contracts by Howie Roseman and signing the top corner on the free agency market in Riq Woolen, the offseason hasn't been a failure by any means. There is still work to be done, though.
Thanks to Roseman, the Eagles have roughly $33M to play around with as well as some draft picks at their disposal. Could we see Philly try to fill the hole at edge rusher? Reporting as of late sounds as if it may be on Roseman's mind.
Greenard, Crosby, and even Garrett? Who's really available?

Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn ImagesIt's been reported that the Eagles have had their eyes on a few edge rushers, not just this offseason, but even dating back to last season, before they traded for Jaelan Phillips.
Let's start with the most realistic name first, and that's the Vikings' Jonathan Greenard. It was reported today, by The Athletic's Alec Lewis, that the Eagles "stand out" as a team interested in trading for Greenard.
Greenard has recorded 97 total tackles, 15 sacks, and six passes defended over his last two seasons in Minnesota. He'd be a solid piece among an already strong Eagles front seven, and for the reported price of a day-two pick, it seems like a no-brainer.
The next name is a bigger name and a more unlikely get to be fair, and that's Maxx Crosby. The Eagles were reportedly 'keeping tabs' on Crosby prior to his trade to Baltimore falling apart.
Crosby is one of the more elite edges in the league, and if the Eagles can get him, they absolutely should. With his trade to Baltimore falling apart over his physical, however, it would be interesting to see what the Raiders' current price for him i,s as the original price of multiple firsts likely isn't being done.
The most unlikely name on this list by far is Myles Garrett. The Eagles have been interested in him since last season, when Roseman offered the Browns a whopping three first-round picks for the all-world edge rusher.
Myles Garrett is coming off of one of the greatest defensive seasons of all time, not only winning Defensive Player of the Year, but breaking the NFL single-season sack record along the way.
Garrett's contract was modified today to create more cap flexibility for Cleveland, which led some to believe this could be an open door for an eventual trade.
The Browns came out shortly after saying that they did not plan on trading their superstar, but who knows? Maybe Howie Roseman can make them an offer they can't refuse.
