Zach Ertz is back with the Philadelphia Eagles and he can't wait to get to work.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially signed tight end Zach Ertz to their practice squad on Tuesday and the veteran is excited to be back with the franchise.
Dallas Goedert is likely to sit out a few weeks because of a sprained MCL, which is why the Eagles reunited with Ertz.
"Yeah I mean obviously, it's gonna be special," Ertz told reporters. "But for me, it's just trying to have a great week of practice. Obviously I gotta earn everything. ... So for me, it's just gonna be a great experience to get back in the building, get around the guys and earn whatever I can."
Ertz appeared in 123 games with Philadelphia from 2013 to 2021. He won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles against the New England Patriots.
"My mom was in tears, my wife was ecstatic, my kids, they really don't understand, but I already had the voice practiced in the E A G L E S chant," Ertz said. "So overall, it was good. I mean, it's exciting times, and like I said, just really happy to be back and honored to be back in the Eagles green, but at the end of the day, I gotta go earn whatever role I can. So that's the goal right now."
Ertz played in 13 games for the Washington Commanders last season. He put up 50 catches for 504 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns before tearing his ACL.
Ertz has played for Philadelphia, the Arizona Cardinals and Washington. He has 825 receptions for 8,592 receiving yards and 57 receiving touchdowns in his career.
The Eagles are 2-0. They beat the Commanders in Week 1 and the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
Philly QB Jalen Hurts has 467 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, two interceptions and 62 rushing yards through two games.
The Eagles face the Chicago Bears (1-1) in Week 3. Bears star QB Caleb Williams (hamstring) may miss the game, so Philadelphia could improve to 3-0.
